During one of our class periods we were able to do a few experiments with different ingredients and created what is called the HYG (hot yellow gas) reaction. It could be a great hook to put into the start of a science unit on solids, liquids, and gases. Being able to experiment after creating the initial reaction will help students who have inquisitive minds to find out which ingredients caused which parts of the reactions.
